Chris Pontius added to his torrid offensive numbers this past week by producing five points on two goals and an assist, which included a tally to give UCSB an overtime win at Big West rival Cal Poly.
Pontius had a goal and an assist in the 5-1 league victory over UC Riverside at Harder Stadium and put in the game-winner just 10 seconds into the second overtime in the 1-0 win at Cal Poly.
The senior forward has now recorded 11 goals this season, the same amount he produced last year when he was named the Big West Offensive Player of the Year. Pontius has notched 26 career goals, placing him seventh on UCSB's all-time list.
Pontius, a Yorba Linda, Calif. native, was also named the Big West Player of the Week and selected to College Soccer News' Team of the Week for his performances against the Highlanders and Mustangs.
The Gauchos' next game is Oct. 25 at Cal State Fullerton at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast by KCSB 91.9 FM and streaming online at kcsb.org.
UCSB's next home game is Nov. 1 vs. UC Irvine. The first 500 fans receive a free seat cushion and all fans 13 and under will be admitted free as part of the Santa Barbara News-Press Kids to College program.
