SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - This Friday, August 27, the UCSB men's soccer team will play host to the Mexico U-20 National Team in an exhibition match at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start and is part of a doubleheader with the Gaucho women's team, which will play Saint Joseph's at 5 p.m.
The match marks the second exhibition this year between UCSB and the Mexico U-20 National Team. The Gauchos hosted Mexico in late February, winning the game in penalty kicks after regulation play ended in a 1-1 tie.
The Mexico U-20 team is playing the Gauchos as part of a four-game trip through California. They will play Cal State Bakersfield and Cal Poly prior to the match at UCSB.
This marks the second consecutive year that UCSB has hosted a Mexican National Team during its fall season. Last year, the Gauchos defeated the Mexico U-17 team, 2-1 in overtime, on Sept. 22. Both games have been presented by Santa Barbara Soccer Entertainment.
Tickets for Friday's doubleheader are $15 for adults and $5 for youth (eighth grade and younger) if purchased in advance. Tickets purchased at the door are $20 for adults and $10 for youth.

Friday's game will serve as the Gauchos' final exhibition before the 2010 campaign officially gets underway with a match at Cal State Bakersfield on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m.
UCSB opened the season last Saturday with an exhibition against cross-town foe Westmont. The Gauchos defeated the Warriors, 3-1, behind goals from junior Luis Silva, sophomore Sam Garza and sophomore Michael Nonni. Garza, a transfer from University of Denver, also assisted Silva's goal.
Heading into the regular season, UCSB has already been ranked in three national preseason polls. The Gauchos received their highest preseason ranking of the season this week when Top Drawer Soccer pegged them as the No. 4 team. College Soccer News has ranked UCSB as No. 6 nationally while the NSCAA has the Gauchos at No. 8.
