SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A week after being ranked No. 6 by College Soccer News in the website's preseason poll, the UC Santa Barbara men's soccer team has garnered another top-10 ranking. This time, it is the National Soccer Coaches Association of America that has tabbed the Gauchos as the nation's No. 8 team heading into the 2010 campaign.
UCSB is one of just two schools from the West in the top-10 along with No. 5 UCLA. Akron tops the rankings with Virginia, Wake Forest and North Carolina rounding out the top-four, respectively. Maryland and Tulsa rank sixth and seventh and Northwestern and Harvard finish off the top-10. Just one other Big West school - UC Irvine - made the poll, coming in at No. 25.

UCSB will kick-off the 2010 campaign on Saturday, Aug. 21 when they host cross-town foe Westmont in an exhibition match on Meredith Field at Harder Stadium. All the action will get underway at 7 pm.
