The Portland Timbers of the USL's A-League, considered to be the United States' second division behind the MLS, will have its upcoming game against the defending league champion Charleston Battery broadcast live nationally on June 4th on Fox Sports World. Former UC Santa Barbara star midfielder and Los Angeles Galaxy draftee Memo Arzate (Hawaiian Gardens, Calif.) is scheduled to return to action for the 5-0 Timbers after missing his first game of the season last week with a knee injury.
Fox Sports World features one A-League match every week of the season as its Match of the Week, with this week's Portland/Charleston showdown scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. PST.
In other Gaucho soccer news upcoming seniors Tony Lochhead and Neil Jones continue competition with New Zealand's World Cup Squad in the Oceania Nations Cup with a match tonight against Vanuatu. While Jones is yet to see action in his first stint with the All-Whites, Lochhead, who has spent time this spring with the PDL's Orange County Blue Star, is slated to start once again in the backline for the Kiwis. Tonight's match will give Lochhead his fourth cap with the All-Whites in four opportunities. New Zealand is currently one-point behind Fiji for second place in the overall standings behind Australia, with the top two teams playing a home and away series for the OFC's spot in the upcoming World Cup Qualifying.
