VANCOUVER, B.C. - Former UC Santa Barbara soccer standout Michael Boxall has officially signed with Vancouver Whitecaps FC of Major League Soccer and started in the team's MLS debut against Toronto FC this past Saturday, March 19.
The center back played all 90 minutes in his first official MLS match and helped his team to a 4-2 win in front of a crowd of 22,592 at Empire Field.
Following the completion of his four-year career at UCSB this past fall, Boxall joined the Whitecaps FC after being selected as the first overall pick in the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft in January. Boxall was a 2010 Third Team All-American, 2010 Big West Defender of the Year and two-time First Team All-Big West selection while at UCSB.
