Men's Soccer Loses Heartbreaker At Cal State Northridge, 3-2 In Overtme

Josh Barton scored just under six minutes into overtime, to lead Cal State Northridge to a 3-2 victory over UC Santa Barbara on Sunday night.
Barton's goal, which was assisted by John Ortega, came at the 95:50 mark.
UCSB got on the board first when midfielder Dan Young scored his first goal of the year at the 20:43 mark. Young's goal was assisted by Drew McAthy. The Matadors tied it up at the 51:01 mark on a goal by Arshak Abayanli. Abayanli gave his team the lead in the 76th minute when he scored on a penalty kick. The penalty kick was the result of a hard foul by UCSB goalkeeper Dan Kennedy, who was redcarded.
The Gauchos tied the match at the 84:00 mark when Joe Hubay-Dies scored his first goal of the campaign, assisted by McAthy.
For the match, UCSB was outshot 21-12. In addition to Kennedy's redcard, the Gauchos were tagged with five cautions, including one to Steven Sosa, his fifth of the year, forcing him to sit out the team's next match, Friday at UC Riverside.
The loss drops the Gauchos to 6-4-3 overall, and 2-1-1 in the Big West. They travel to UC Riverside on Friday for a 3:00 p.m. Big West match.
