UC SANTA BARBARA
2009: Played in 12 matches and started
six...First career start was on Oct. 15 against UC Davis, the
Gauchos won, 3-0...His first career goal clinched a 1-0 double
overtime victory for UCSB at UC Irvine (Oct. 31)...Notched the lone
Gaucho goal in a 4-1 loss to UC Irvine in the Big West Tournament
final (Nov. 14)...Started the NCAA Tournament First and Second
Round games against Wofford (Nov. 19) and San Diego (Nov. 22),
logging 180 minutes of postseason play.
2008: Made 10 appearances off the bench in his first year
as a Gaucho...Took one shot during the season...Played the most
minutes of the year in the 2-1 win at UC Irvine
(10/4)...Participated in six of the Gauchos' victories against Air
Force (8/29), Kentucky (9/05), Loyola Marymount (9/07), Indiana
(9/27), UC Irvine (10/4) and UC Riverside (10/14).

Played club for West Coast Premier.
HIGH SCHOOL
Played center back for nationally-ranked Servite High School in
Anaheim, Calif....A First Team All-CIF and All-Orange County
selection as a senior in 2008...A two-time Trinity League Defensive
MVP (2007 and 2008) and the Friars' MVP in 2008...As a senior,
tallied 10 goals and three assists for 23 points...Team captain in
2008...Servite posted a school-record 17 shutouts in 2008...Winner
of the "Team" award in 2007...Helped lead the Friars to the 2007
CIF Quarterfinals as well as titles at the Upland and Western
Christian tourneys...In 2006, Servite won the San Marcos High
School Tournament as well as the Western Christian
Tournament...Friars were CIF quarterfinalists in 2005...Also played
baseball at SHS...A vicar in Servite's Formation Program, which

show...Son of Richard and Mary Ellen Pontius...Has two older
