2003: Named First Team All-Big West for his third consecutive all-conference honors, becoming the first player since 1970 (Dave Hollingsworth), along with teammates Dan Kennedy and Drew McAthy, to earn all-conference accolades three times...Helped anchor a Gaucho defense posted a conference-best 1.02 goals against average, holding the opposition to single digit shot totals in seven matches and less than 15 shots in 16, twice giving up just five attempts...Named to the Duke/adidas Classic All-Tournament team after the Gauchos defense allowed just one goal and 16 shots in their two games...Recognized as a CoSida Academic All-District VII honoree...Appeared in, started, and played almost of 20 matches on the season, missing one due to suspension and another to New Zealand World Cup National Team duty...Played a total of 1805 minutes on the year as he now occupies the seventh, eighth, and ninth spots on the Gauchos' single season top ten...Bumped his career minutes played to 5410 to move into seventh all-time in school history, 102 short of teammate Dan Kennedy's total, and 1034 shy of the UCSB record...Scored a career-high two goals on the season starting with the game-winner against Cal Poly and ending with the insurance goal in the Gauchos' 2-0 victory over Cal in the second round of the NCAA Tournament...For the first time in his career he tallied just one assist, coming on the game-winner against Cal State Fullerton...Also rattled off a career-high five shots in the win over Cal State Fullerton, finishing the season with a career-high 24 to pace all of the Gauchos' non-offensive players.
2002: Earned Second Team All-Big West honors after anchoring a Gaucho defense that ranked at the top of the conference and 16th in the nation with a 0.45 shutout percentage...He and teammate Dan Kennedy are the only returnees to have started every match in which they appeared, taking the pitch in 21 games while missing one due to suspension...Tied for seventh on the team, and second amongst defensemen with three assists...His nine shots were the most (tie) taken by any defensive player on the roster...His 21 starts were the third most by any player, bringing his career total to 40, the most of any returning players...Tallied two assists in the home-opener against St. Mary's...Assisted on Drew McAthy's goal against Cal in the second round of the NCAA Tournament...Ran his career assist total to nine, tying him for third amongst returnees while leading all defenders.
2001: One of only two Gauchos to play in all 19 matches of the season, he was on the sidelines for just 15 of the 1,805 minutes UCSB played...Lochhead first collegiate season was capped by earning Second Team All-Big West honors, he was one of just seven freshman to be recognized...Anchored a defense that held its opponents to a Big West second best 0.95 goals against average...Tied for the team lead, dishing out six assists, four more than any other midfielders or defenders...Scored the Gauchos first goal of the season, finding the back of the net in the fourth minute of UCSB's 3-0 season opening win over Long Island University...Remarkably Lochhead's goal four minutes into the season was his only one of the year, as he finished tied for fourth of the team with eight points off of one goal and six assists.
Lochhead is quickly becoming an international star for New Zealand's World Cup squad...Earning his first cap at international soccer's highest when he started in a friendly match in Iran, Lochhead has started every match since...Most recently Lochhead helped anchor the All-Whites' defense in World Cup qualifying at the Oceania Football Confederation's Nations Cup, bumping his cap count to six...In New Zealand's five matches, Lochhead and the rest of the backline posted three shutouts on the tourney...As member of New Zealand's Olympic Team, Lochhead anchored the Kiwi defense that came within two goals of qualifying for the 2004 Games in Athens...He began his play on New Zealand's National teams with the under-16 team, and has competed on each concurrent squad up to and including the under-23's [Olympic]...Played club ball for the Tauranga City United junior team...His greatest moment in sports was beating Poland 2-1 in the under-17 World Cup with the New Zealand National Team...Once finished with national team duty in 2004 Lochhead joined teammate Dan Kennedy as a member of the Orange County Blue Star...Lochhead played in ten matches, helping the Blue Star to their second consecutive Premier Development League postseason appearance and earned PDL All-Western Conference honors as one of top amateur players in all of the United States...He also scored one goal and tallied one assist for Orange County.
