SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – In preparation of the 2018 College Cup, to be hosted by UC Santa Barbara in December, the intercollegiate athletic department and Gaucho soccer program have initiated multiple renovations to enhance Harder Stadium.

Already one of the premier stadiums in all of college soccer, Harder Stadium has been home to nine of the top 10 all-time largest crowds in NCAA (on campus) history, including the highest attended match ever when the Gauchos played host to UCLA in front of 15,896 on Sept. 24, 2010.

Among the improvements being made will be a renovation of the game field as well as increased seating in the Gold Zone, improvements to the sound system and lighting, a new ticket booth and new team benches. Additionally, the Gauchos will begin to use their all new natural grass training facility when they begin practicing in August.

"There is a lot of responsibility involved for the host school when your facility is selected as the venue for the most important event in Division I college soccer," UCSB head coach Tim Vom Steeg said. "These improvements are vital for us to create the environment that's fitting for a National Championship. It is also a great opportunity for us to make the necessary improvements to the facility so that our players, students, and supporters can have the best soccer experience as possible."

UCSB will also host the College Cup in 2020 and previously hosted the event in 2010.

The Gauchos kick off the season with their annual exhibition against Westmont on Saturday, Aug. 18 before their regular season opener against St. John's (N.Y.) on Friday, Aug. 24 at Harder Stadium.

Season tickets as well as College Cup packages are on sale now and can be found online here or by calling the UCSB Athletics Ticket Office at 805-893-UCSB.
