SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Despite recording one of the most decorated freshman years in program history, midfielder Ema Boateng is not content to rest on his laurels, as the Ghana native will suit up over summer for the Ventura County Fusion of the USL Premier Development League.
Before the season kicked off on Wednesday, Boateng was named to Top Drawer Soccer's PDL Watchlist.
From the Top Drawer Soccer release:
"One of the brightest talents in the college game, Boateng is poised to really leave his mark this fall at UCSB. Before he gets there, he'll take his attacking midfield talents to the Ventura County Fusion, a PDL club that has seen its share of stars pass through en route to Major League Soccer."
"This is probably expected given the success that he had last season, which includes being named the Big West Freshman of the Year," UCSB head coach Tim Vom Steeg said. "There's no way you can miss Ema on the field. He is dangerous everytime he touches the ball."
Boateng's first year at UCSB earned the freshman a litany of awards, including Big West Freshman of the Year, All-Big West First Team, and All-Far West Region Second Team. The speedy midfielder notched four goals on the season, including game-winners over USD and Sacramento State and an equalizer against UCLA.
UCSB men's soccer season tickets are now on sale for the 2013 season. Don't miss out on the action as the Gauchos host top talent from all over the country including Stanford, Cal Poly and 2012 NCAA Sweet 16 participant New Mexico.
