Boateng Honored Once Again, Named to Soccer America All-Freshman Team

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Forward Ema Boateng was named to the Soccer America All-Freshman First Team it was announced today. The honor comes on the heels of his All-Far West Second Team, TopDrawerSoccer.com All-Freshmen First Team and Big West Freshman of the Year honors.

Boateng scored four goals and added four assists to place third among the Gauchos with 12 points. He ranked sixth in the Big West with 42 shots and was tied for fifth with two-game-winning goals. The Gauchos posted a 5-2-1 record when Boateng recorded at least one point. His second-half goal against No. 12 UCLA in a nationally televised match on FOX Soccer Channel helped UCSB forge a 1-1 draw on Sept. 21.

The forward also ended the season ranked as the No. 3 freshman nationally by TopDrawerSoccer.com.

The UCSB men's soccer team will hold its annual banquet to celebrate the 2012 season on Sunday, January 20 at 6 p.m. in the Intercollegiate Athletics Building's Phil Womble Hall of Champions.

The Gaucho Fund event will include a dinner and team awards presentation.

The cost of admission is $30 per person or $200 for a table that seats eight people.
