Gauchos to Debut Alternate Black Uniforms Friday vs. UCLA
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - On Friday night, Sept. 21, the third-ranked UC Santa Barbara men's soccer team will host 12th-ranked UCLA in a showdown at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium at 6:00 p.m. The match will be aired live on Fox Soccer Channel.
Friday's game is significant on several fronts. Obviously, the implications of a match-up between two of the highest ranked teams on the west coast are huge. Also, the last time the two teams met in Santa Barbara a record crowd of nearly 16,000 fans packed Harder Stadium and another huge crowd is expected for this contest.
But this year's Gaucho-Bruin match is significant as well, because on Friday night, UCSB will debut its long-anticipated alternate uniforms, and suffice to say, this time the good guys will be wearing black.
In a major departure from the traditional blues and whites, the Gauchos will wear black uniforms for the first time, choosing to do so in front of a national television audience. To get a preview of the new uniforms, click here.
