UCSB to Host Third Annual AYSO Skills Day, Harder Stadium to Debut New Kids' Zone

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – For the third consecutive year, the UC Santa Barbara soccer programs will partner with local American Youth Soccer Organization Region 122 for AYSO Skills Day, which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 25 at UCSB's Storke Field.

The Gaucho men's and women's soccer teams will help local AYSO teams kick-off their new seasons with this exciting event.

The day will include skill clinics and the opportunity for AYSO players to meet and play with the Gauchos.

It will also serve as an opportunity for AYSO players to pick up their team jerseys and to register to play during halftime or serve as a ball kid at a UCSB soccer match. You can also register for both those activities and to have UCSB players serve as guest coaches by clicking here.

All of the clinics being offered are free to participants. The day will start with a player's clinic for U5-U8 players from 9-11 a.m. A coaches' clinic will follow for coaches of all levels at 11 a.m. A second player's clinic for the U10-U19 age groups will run from 12-2 p.m.

For more information on this event, contact gauchoyouth@athletics.ucsb.edu or click here.

Parking is $5 and participants are encouraged to park in Lot 38 next to Storke Field, which will also be open to fans throughout the season. Parking in Lot 38 will be available on a per game basis or a season-long parking pass can be purchased from the Athletics Ticket Office by calling (805) 893-UCSB.

Season tickets will be also available at the event, including the popular Family Plan, which includes five tickets for just $178. This year, the plan will also serve as a Flex Plan with either two season passes and three GKids memberships or five tickets – it's your call! GKids remains the best value in town for kids with access to every regular season game in every sport while wearing your GKids t-shirt.

Harder Stadium will become even more kid friendly this season when UCSB introduces its new and improved Kids' Zone at men's soccer matches. The 2012 Kids' Zone will be located underneath the video scoreboard just inside Curtice Gate and it will include:

• Inflatable play area
• Face painting
• Sign making stations
• Gaucho giveaways

Additionally, for the first eight minutes of halftime each game, all kids 12 and under are invited to participate in an open scrimmage on Meredith Field.

The improved Kids' Zone will make its debut this Saturday, Aug. 18 when the men's soccer team hosts its first match of the season – an exhibition against cross-town foe Westmont at 7 p.m.
