SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara men's soccer team will host Providence (11-7-1) in the 2011 NCAA Division I Soccer Championship Second Round on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 5 p.m. at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium.
Providence defeated Dartmouth, 1-0, in Thursday's First Round to advance to the match against the No. 15 seeded Gauchos. The Friars play in the Big East and entered the NCAA Tournament field with an at-large bid. A goal in the 11th minute of today's game by John Raley propelled Providence into the Second Round.
Sunday's meeting will be the first ever between UCSB and Providence.

This marks the Gauchos' 10th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. The Gauchos posted a 14-6-1 overall record during the regular season and finished second in the regular season Big West standings and in the conference tournament.
UCSB has entered the NCAA Tournament with a national seed four previous years: 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2008. The Gauchos advanced to College Cup final in 2004 and won the title in 2006.
