SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UCSB Athletics is
proud to once again celebrate diversity through its "Gauchos Give"
community outreach commitment by promoting awareness of Hispanic
Heritage Month. The national celebration runs every year from Sept.
15 to Oct. 15.
"This is the third year we've engaged in this important
celebration," said Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Mark W.
Massari. "Because we serve as a highly visible part of this
incredible university we will always promote important cultural
events such as Hispanic Heritage Month. Our over 400
student-athletes, diverse and motivated, never shy away from
serving as role models."
Last year, the Gauchos highlighted the celebration by hosting the
U20 Mexican National Team at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium in
front of over 9,000 fans.
"UCSB Athletics continues to make the community a priority and the Gauchos Give campaign is a clear example of this," said Sergio Villa, past President of the Santa Barbara Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. "I am very proud to be a part of this and I encourage that anyone who has never attended a game do so, as they will not be disappointed."
This year's celebration will include:
