Gaucho Fund to Host Pregame Huddle at UCLA on Friday

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Gaucho Fund is pleased to announce that there will be a pregame Gaucho Huddle on the UCLA campus prior to Friday's men's soccer game between UCSB and the Bruins. Gaucho Huddles are held frequently throughout the year as a chance to being UCSB coaches, student-athletes, donors and season ticket holders together, and are just a few of the many events the Gaucho Fund holds annually.

The Gaucho Fund will be sending a bus from Santa Barbara to the match in Westwood. The bus will depart the UCSB campus at 2:45 p.m. and will return following the game.

The pregame reception, which is being hosted by the UCSB Athletics Department and the UCSB Alumni Association, will be held at the Charles E. Young Grand Salon in Kerckhoff Hall. The venue is in the Student Union Center, which is within walking distance of Drake Stadium, home of Bruin soccer.

The reception will run from 5:30-7:00 p.m. and will include appetizers and a pregame talk with head coach Tim Vom Steeg. The Gaucho Shop will also have an assortment of gear on hand for sale at the Huddle. It will be a great opportunity to meet and socialize with fellow Gauchos and get ready to cheer on UCSB in its 7 p.m. match.

To reserve your spot, contact Christina Baglas by Wednesday, Sept. 14 via phone at (805) 893-5372 or email at Christina.Baglas@athletics.ucsb.edu.

If you are unable to make the trek down to Westwood on Friday, you are in luck! UCSB and Nelligan Sports Marketing will once again be broadcasting men's soccer games live on AM 1290 KZSB, the Santa Barbara News-Press Radio Station, beginning with Friday's match.

For the second straight year, the Voice of the Gauchos, Gerry Fall, will call the play-by-play with longtime Santa Barbara News-Press senior sports writer, Mark Patton, handing the color.

The UCLA match is the first of 12 men's soccer game that will be broadcast. The radio schedule includes the Oct. 5 match against Akron, all Big West Conference home and away contests, and all postseason contests.

The Gaucho Fund is UCSB Athletics' annual giving program to provide vital funding support for scholarships, academic success and leadership development for Gaucho student-athletes.
