Gauchos Unveil 2011 Soccer Community Outreach Programs
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Santa Barbara
community will have plenty of opportunities to interact with the
UCSB men's and women's soccer programs this fall as the teams have
a bevy of community outreach programs in place.
The game day programs include postgame autograph sessions with
Gaucho players, the opportunity to serve as a ball boy/girl at home
matches, youth games played on Meredith Field during halftime and
the always-popular Soccer Town Playground.
UCSB will also be partnering with AYSO and Santa Barbara
Soccer Club for a trio of special events. The first will be AYSO
Skills Day, which is being held for the second year at Girsh Park
on Aug. 27. The event gives local AYSO players the chance to learn
skills from Gaucho players and get their autographs.
AYSO will partner with UCSB again on Sept. 25 when it holds
its annual banner night during the Sacramento State match. Youth
wearing their AYSO team jerseys will gain free admission to the
game.
On Sept. 9, SBSC will host its annual BBQ and silent auction at
Harder Stadium prior to the men's soccer match against West
Virginia.
UCSB also extends special ticket offers to local elementary,
middle school and junior high PTA's. There will also be special
Junior High/High School Soccer Team Nights offered.
The cornerstone of the UCSB soccer outreach programs is the
Gaucho Guest Coaching Program. As part of the
Gauchos Give
community outreach initiative, UCSB soccer players fill in as guest
coaches for local soccer teams.

The UCSB men's soccer season kicks off on Aug. 20 when the Gauchos
host cross-town foe Westmont in an exhibition match at Meredith
Field at Harder Stadium. The game is one of 12 exciting home
pairings scheduled for UCSB this fall.
