Sarle Advances to PDL Championship Semis

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Incoming UCSB player Dominick Sarle has helped lead the Long Island Rough Riders to the 2011 Premier Development League Championships in Bremerton, Wash. this weekend. Long Island will play the Laredo Heat at Bremerton Memorial Stadium at 5 p.m. this Friday.

The Rough Riders won the Eastern Conference Championship with a 3-2 victory over the Jersey Express. Sarle scored in the victory. The forward is second on the team with 10 goals and has posted a team-leading five assists for 25 total points.
The Rough Riders have previously won two USL Championships in their history, but this will be their first trip to the PDL Championships. Laredo – the Rough Riders' semifinal opponent – won the Southern Conference title to advance to this week's championship. The winner will advance to take on the winner between the Kitsap Pumas and the Thunder Bay Chill on Saturday at 4:30 pm. That championship match will be broadcast live on FOX Soccer.
Sarle, a sophomore, is transferring to UCSB after spending his rookie season at St. John's. He is also a U-20 U.S. Men's National Team product.
Sarle will make his debut with UCSB on Aug. 20 when the Gauchos host cross-town foe Westmont in an exhibition match at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium. The game is one of 12 exciting home pairings scheduled for UCSB this fall.

There are a number of value-packed ways to catch the Gauchos this season from the affordable Family Plan to the brand-new V-Pack! And the popular GKids club is back with added features for kids 8th grade and under.
