UCSB to Appear on FOX Soccer Twice in 2011

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Two of UC Santa Barbara's men's soccer home matches have been selected as NSCAA College Games of the Week and will be broadcast by FOX Soccer it was announced on Monday. The Gauchos' Oct. 5 pairing against defending College Cup champion Akron and their Nov. 4 game against Blue-Green rival, Cal Poly, will both be televised live from Meredith Field at Harder Stadium.

This marks the fourth consecutive season that the Gauchos will play in two televised contests and the third time in the last four years that the rivalry with Cal Poly will be played out in front of a national audience. UCSB, Akron and Duke are the only three men's programs that will be featured twice during the 2011 season.

The Big West will meet the Big East the weekend of Sept. 9-11 when West Virginia and Villanova travel to the Central Coast. UCSB will also get a sneak peek at future Big West associate member, Sacramento State, on Sept. 25 before hosting the league's 2010 regular season champion, UC Irvine, on Oct. 1.
