Brian Hollenbeck sunk a 50-foot putt on the final hole to win the individual title and help UCSB collect the team crown at the Bill Cullum Invitational in Simi Valley last week.
Hollenbeck, a sophomore from Fullerton, drained the long putt for an eagle to move him past teammate Michael Casca and Southern Utah's Eric Nilsson forfirst place. He finished with a four-under par total of 212 at Wood Ranch Golf Course to top Casca and Nilsson, who ended up tied for second, by one stroke.
The Gauchos won the season-opening tourney with a three-round total of 870 to best the field of 15 teams. Portland was second (881) and Loyola Marymount placed third (886.).
