Golf Tied For 4th-Place But In The Thick Of Things After Two Rounds At The 2002 Big West Championship

El Dorado Hills, Calif. - After two rounds of the 2002 Big West Golf Championships at the Serrano Country Club in El Dorado Hills, the UC Santa Barbara golf team is tied for fourth-place, just two shots out of second place.

The Gauchos shot a two-round total of 583, the same as UC Riverside. UC Irvine is comfortably ahead of the field at 564, but the next four schools are bunched together. In addition to UCSB and UC Riverside at 583, Long Beach State is in second at 581 and the host school, Pacific, is in third at 582. The rest of the field is out of contention.

Scott Linklater led UCSB through the first two rounds with a 3-under-par 141. He is in fourth- place, five shots off the pace. J.R. Becko shot an even-par 144 and is tied for eighth-place. Greg Snider is tied for 17th-place with a 4-over-par 148. Nick Telliard shot a 151 and is tied for 24th, while Jeff Greenfield shot a 156 and is tied for 34th.

The tournament's final round will be played on Tuesday.
