Golf Finishes Tied For Fourth At 49er Collegiate Classic

Long Beach, Calif. - Sophomore Scott Linklater shot season-best 218 and finished tied for tenth to lead the UC Santa Barbara golf team to an 882 score and a fourth-place tie with Nevada at the 49er Collegiate Classic in Long Beach, Calif.

Linklater used a final-round 70, his best round of the year, to cap a solid showing. Senior Jeff Wood shot a 220 to tie for 13th place while junior J.R. Becko and sophomore Jeff Greenfield tied for 21st at 223. Freshman Leigh Silver finished 51st with a 231.

The tournament was won by the host school Long Beach State, which shot an 876 and won in a playoff with the University of San Diego. UC Irvine shot an 877 to finish third.
