Brian Six Places Second as Gauchos Finish in Fourth-Place Tie at Del Walker Intercollegiate

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Senior Brian Six shot a career-best 7-under par 206 to finish second at the Del Walker Intercollegiate in Long Beach, Calif.

Six's finish led UC Santa Barbara to a season-best tie for fourth-place in the tournament held at the Virginia Country Club. As a team, the Gauchos shot a three-round score of 868 to tie with North Texas for fourth. UC Riverside, also out of the Big West, won the team championship with a two-shot victory over Texas-San Antonio, 855 to 857. Lamar University finished third at 862 with UCSB and North Texas tied for fourth, six shots back of the champs.

Lamar's Chris Stroud won the individual title with an 11-under par 202, four shots ahead of Six. Troy McKinley of Pacific finished third at 207 and Todd Saukkola of Long Beach State shot 208 to finish fourth.

"Brian was very good the past couple of days," said UCSB head coach Steve Lass. "He was consistent both days and really hit the ball well."

Six shot rounds of 67 and 68 on day one of the tournament and today he finished up with a par round of 71 on the 6,633 yard course.

The other UCSB finishers were Jean-luc Burnier who shot 219 and finished tied for 26th, Joe Ryon who shot 223 and tied for 45th, Greg Wells who shot 224 and tied for 49th and Leigh Silver who shot 229 and tied for 66th.

The Del Walker Intercollegiate was the final tournament of the fall for the Gauchos.
