Gauchos Finish Thirteenth At Their Bite/Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Golf Tournament Held At La Purisima Golf Course

Lompoc, Calif. - After a strong showing on the first day of their Bite/Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Golf Tournament, the UC Santa Barbara golf team struggled in its final round to finish 13th out of 19 teams, with an overall score of 908. Greg Snider, in his best performance of the season, was the Gauchos top finisher, placing seventh with a three round score of 218, three over par at the La Purisima Golf Course.

San Diego State won the tournament with an outstanding four player team score of 866, just two over par, on a course where most touring pros would have a difficult time shooting even. Fresno State finished second, twelve strokes behind the Aztecs, at 878. Pacific's Jason Higton took the individual title, scoring four under par with a three round score of 212 on the par 72 course. San Diego's John Lieber and Mark Warman tied for second at minus two.

The Gauchos also had five golfers compete as individuals, led by Jeff Linklater's and Brian Six's pair of 224's, their eight over par performances put them in a nine way tie for 27th.
