Gauchos Finish 8th at Braveheart Classic

BEAUMONT, Calif. - Tyler Weir shot a 2-over par 218 and finished tied for ninth at the Braveheart Classic, leading the UC Santa Barbara golf team to an eighth-place finish.
Weir recorded a 2-over par 74 in the first round but then buckled down and shoe even-par 72 in the final two rounds to finish tied with Long Beach State's Benjamin Lein for ninth-place.
After carding a dismal 8-over par 80 in the first round, Andrew Gunson shot a 3-under par 69 in the second round and a 4-over par 76 in the third round to finish tied for 22nd at 9-over par 225. Glen Scher hit a 16-over 232 to finish tied for 47th.
Kei Kita, playing his first tournament of the year, carded an 18-over par 234 to finish tied for 52nd. Scott Lewis shot a 26-over par 242 and tied for 77th, and
The Gauchos return to action in two weeks, on Mar. 25-26, when they travel to San Diego State's Barona Collegiate Cup in Lakeside, Calif.
