SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara senior Zach Smith (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley HS) posted his second straight and fourth career Big West Men's Golfer of the Month honor as he tallied a pair of top five finishes in February tournament action.

Smith recorded scores of par or better in five of the six rounds he contested.

He finished fourth overall in a field of 59 competitors at the UC Irvine Invitational. Smith shot a 1-under 215. After opening with a 74, he concluded the final 36 holes with a 72 and 69 as the Gauchos placed fifth overall as a team.

Smith then carded an 8-under 208 at the prestigious John Burns Intercollegiate in Lihue, Hawai'i.  The third-place finish was his best of the season as he sandwiched two rounds of 71 around a low round of 66.

"Zach is playing really well right now and he is very deserving of this honor," said head coach Steve Lass. "He has been so consistent this year and, really, for most of his career."

Smith also completed the fall season as the Big West Golfer of the Month in October.
