Nick Swanson Earns All-America Scholar Recognition

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara junior Nick Swanson has earned 2017-18 All-America Scholar recognition it was announced Thursday.

The honor, which is presented by Srixon/Cleveland Golf and The Golf Coaches Association of America, recognizes players who are either a junior or senior academically, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher, a season stroke average of 76.0 or lower and participated in at least 70% of his team's dates of competition.

Swanson, an Economics Accounting major at UCSB, was a First Team All-Big West selection. He played in all 11 of his team's tournaments in 2017-18, possessed a 73.12 stroke average and had six top-10 finishes. He also produced 14 rounds at or under par.

A Huntington Beach, Calif., native, Swanson was one of five Big West Conference players to earn All-America Scholar recognition. It is the 15th time that a Gaucho has earned the honor.
