SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Junior Nick Swanson shot a 4-under par 140 to help UC Santa Barbara to an 11-under par 565 after two rounds of the Bill Cullum Invitational at Wood Ranch Golf Club, two shots ahead of Utah State and Long Beach State. The first two rounds were completed on Monday. The final round will be played on Tuesday.

Swanson carded a 6-under par 66 in the first round, leading the field. His 2-over 74 in the second round put him in a tie for fifth at 4-under.

A gaggle of Gauchos, Brett Bennett, Tyler See and Brandon Bauman each finished the second round at 1-under par, to help the team into first-place. Matt Moomjian enters the final round at 1-over.

UCSB won five tournament titles in 2016-17, including the Big West Conference title. But this year, the team is playing without Zach Smith, who was a key component, but will redshirt the season. They will aim for a tournament title on Tuesday when they play the final round at Wood Ranch.

Cal State Fullerton's Derek Castillo enters the third round at 7-under par and in the lead for individual medalist honors. Utah State's Hayden Eckert is at 6-under par and in second-place.
