SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -
UC Santa Barbara has signed Todd Follmer, a 6-foot-11, 225-pound center from Rancho Santa Margarita High School to a National Letter of Intent, Gaucho basketball coach Bob Williams announced today.
As a junior, Follmer averaged 13.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while shooting 54.0% from the field. He led Rancho Santa Margarita to the CIF semifinals where he had one of his best games, going for 26 points, 14 rebounds and five blocked shots against Los Altos High School.
"At 6-foot-11 Todd is very agile and runs very well," Williams said. "He has good hands and he's good at facing-up (to the basket). He has made tremendous progress every year and he has great upside. We've seen him play each year and he has gotten better and better. Todd is a great fit for our program, skillwise and as a person. On top of everything else, he comes from a great high school program and he is coached by one of the best coaches (Jerry DeBusk) in the state."
Follmer originally committed to the University of Washington. At 6-foot-11, he is the tallest recruit signed by Williams and his coaching staff.
