SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara will continue to offer a variety of fan-friendly ticket packages and extra benefits for 2007-08 men's and women's basketball games, Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing Joe Castiglia announced Thursday.
In a continuation of marketing initiatives started in 2006-07, extra benefits for season ticket holders, such as Gaucho Dollars and special events like "Meet the Teams", are just some of the ways the department is trying to give back to its loyal season ticket holders and to entice new season ticket sales. UCSB Athletics is also trying to reach out to faculty and staff, offering them season tickets at greatly reduced prices with savings up to $300.00 on a single season ticket.
In 2007-08, UCSB Athletics will also concentrate on corporate, youth, and community groups to try to introduce new fans to the excitement of Gaucho Basketball and reach those who may not have attended a game in recent years. Group rates for 10 or more people begin at $6.00 per ticket. Large groups will get additional benefits such as game programs and in-game recognition.
UCSB is also excited to continue the Santa Barbara News-Press "Kids to College" program. This year, both men's and women's basketball will offer two "Kids to College" games apiece. Youth can attend the games free of charge by pre-registering on UCSB's official athletics Website, UCSBGauchos.com. Featured men's basketball games will be Nov. 24 against Montana State and Jan. 26 against Pacific, while the women's games will include Nov. 11 vs. USC and Dec. 17 vs. Pepperdine. Also at those games, a premium give-away will be supplied courtesy of the Santa Barbara News-Press.
The "Gaucho Flex Pack" will again allow fans to choose which games and how many they want to attend. The "Gaucho Flex Pack" consists of five tickets for the price of four and can be utilized for men's or women's games. It represents a $60.00 value for $48.00.
"This is a great opportunity for fans who may not be able to attend all the games with a regular season ticket package, but want the flexibility of picking and choosing," Castiglia said. "For example, if you purchase a `Gaucho Flex Pack' you can attend one game and bring four of your friends, or go to five games by yourself. You may also want to go to two women's games and three men's games. This allows the consumer numerous options and great flexibility."
The "Coca-Cola Gaucho Family Pack" allows families to attend games at a greatly discounted rate. For $40.00, a family will receive four tickets, four hot dogs, four Coca-Cola products, and four t-shirts. In all, the "Coca-Cola Gaucho Family Pack" will represent an $80.00 value for $40.00.
The following games will be available as part of the package:
Men's Basketball: Nov. 20 vs. San Francisco, Dec. 7 vs. Utah Valley State, Jan. 5 vs. Cal State Northridge, and Feb. 9 vs. UC Irvine
Women's Basketball: Nov. 9 vs. BYU, Jan. 12 vs. Cal State Fullerton, Feb. 23 vs. UC Davis, and March 5 vs. Cal State Northridge
"Thanks to our friends at Coca-Cola, we are able to continue offering this outstanding value to families who want to attend games but find the cost to be an issue," Castiglia commented. "We are offering this deal for four men's games and four women's games spread over four months so families can enjoy all the excitement of Gaucho Basketball throughout the entire season at a family-friendly price".
Along with contests and great entertainment that will be offered at men's and women's basketball games, in 2007-08 seven people at each Big West Conference game will have an opportunity to win $10,000, a total payout of $70,000.00 at each of eight men's and eight women's conference games.
