Oct. 16, 2006
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara men's and women's basketball teams will be introduced to season ticket holders at the first-ever "Meet the Teams" on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Thunderdome. The event will run from 4-6 p.m.
The event will allow season ticket holders to interact with the coaches and student-athletes, go behind the scenes at the Thunderdome on an athlete-guided tour, relive past Gaucho basketball memories in "Gaucho Moments" - a gallery of trophies, photos, film clips and media guides tracing over 65 years of the program's history - and to hear from men's head coach Bob Williams and women's head coach Mark French on the upcoming seasons. In addition, guests will have the opportunity to compete against the athletes for prizes in an on-court shoot around, there will also be ample photo opportunities for guests, players and coaches and a free raffle for prizes.
"The great thing about this event is that we have both the men's and women's teams coming together in a fun environment where coaches, athletes and season ticket holders can spend time together," Williams said. "We look forward to seeing and meeting all of our season ticket holders."
"Women's basketball is proud to be a part of this event," began French. "One of the greatest opportunities for the season ticket holders is the chance to interact with our players off the court. Not only will guests get to know more about a great traditiion of basketball, but they will get to know more about our players as individuals; our athletes are fine individuals."
Light food and beverages will be provided to all in attendance. Season ticket holders will also have the opportunity to spend their "Gaucho Bucks" with priority access to new TeamShop apparel.
RSVP is required by emailing at email@example.com. Any non-season ticket holders who wish to attend the event are encouraged to purchase season tickets. Tickets are available by calling the UCSB Athletics Ticket Office at 805-893-7282 or at the Thunderdome on Oct. 21.
