Big West Tournament Sees 47% Increase In Attendance

The total attendance for Saturday's men's and women's championship games of the 2011 ampm Big West Basketball Tournament was 6,474.

This is the first year the tournament has been held at Anaheim's Honda Center. A three-day total of 15,396 fans attended this year's event, representing a 47% increase over last year. Saturday's attendance of 6,474 was a single-day increase of 68%.

Tonight's men's championship game attendance of 5,341 was the third largest to see a Big West final during its 17-year tenure in Anaheim (1977-82, 2001-11). It is also the largest crowd to attend a men's basketball game between two Big West teams this season.

In 2012, the event will again begin with women's first round games on campus sites March 6 and shifts to Honda Center for men's first round games on March 8. The men's and women's final four will be held March 9-10 at Honda Center.
