James Powell hit seven three-pointers and finished with 24 points as UCSB picked up a 73-55 Big West win over UC Riverside at the Thunderdome on March 1.
Powell made 8-of-11 (73%) shots from the floor and was 7-for-8 (88%) from beyond the three-point mark. The sophomore guard made his lone free-throw shot and added two assists and two steals in 28 minutes of play.
Powell's career-high seven three-pointers were the most by a Gaucho since the 2004-05 season. The Pomona, Calif. native has made 13 three-pointers in his last two games and has gone 15-for-20 from behind the arc over the last three contests.
UCSB, which has won four consecutive Big West games, wraps up its regular season on the road at Cal State Northridge (Mar. 6, 7 p.m.) and at Long Beach State (Mar. 8, 4 p.m.).
