SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - Branduinn Fullove scored 21 points to lead UC-Santa Barbara to an easy 86-59 victory over Detroit on Friday night in the first round of the Cable Car Classic.
The Gauchos (8-2) will play tournament host Santa Clara for the title Saturday night. Santa Clara defeated Maryland-Baltimore County 59-58 in Friday's other first-round game.
Fullove scored 13 points to pace UC-Santa Barbara to a 48-17 halftime lead over the Titans (6-5), who made just 21.5 percent of their first-half shots.
The Gauchos led by as many as 32 points in the second half, a margin that never fell below 23 points.
Adama Ndiaye, Nick Jones and B.J. Ward each scored 11 points for UC-Santa Barbara.
Thomas Dillard paced Detroit with 13 points - 10 in the second half.
UCSB enjoyed a significant advantage from the foul line, hitting 25 of 33 attempts to Detroit's 13 of 25.
