SAN DIEGO (AP) - Nick Lewis recorded 20 points and 11 rebounds as San Diego topped UC Santa Barbara 71-63 for its third straight victory Wednesday night.

Brice Vounang scored 12 of his 15 points in the first half to help the Toreros (6-5) establish a 41-34 halftime lead. Vounang also had 10 rebounds.

The Toreros increased the lead to 50-40 with 14:32 left and led the rest of the way by at least six points to hand UC Santa Barbara (2-5) its fourth consecutive road loss.

Reserve Joe See had 17 points to lead the Gauchos after entering the game with just 27 points on the season. Cameron Goettsche also came off the bench to record 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Lewis shot 7-for-12 from the field and matched his career high for points, first set Dec. 20, 2003 against Northern Arizona.

The Toreros opened the game with a 9-0 run in the first 3:24, while UC Santa Barbara missed three shots from field and had four turnovers.

But the Gauchos bounced back to close within 16-15 with 11:10 to go in the half, led by See who had eight points in that span.
