Harris Leads Gauchos Past Montana State

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) -- Junior forward Alex Harris scored 21 points, grabbed four rebounds and had five steals as UC Santa Barbara spoiled Montana State's home opener with an 88-56 rout in a non-conference men's basketball game Monday.

Less than four minutes into the game at Worthington Arena, the Gauchos (2-0) sprinted to a 19-1 lead en route to a 44-26 halftime margin. They outscored MSU 19-2 in the first 4 1/2 minutes of the second half, to take a 62-28 lead.

The Bobcats (0-2), playing without injured starting senior wing Nick Dissly, got 13 points from senior guard Casey Durham and 10 apiece from guards Carlos Taylor and Erik Rush.

Forward Ivan Elliott added 14 points for UCSB.
