STANFORD, Calif. (AP) -Alex Harris had 24 points and seven rebounds and UC Santa Barbara beat Harvard 79-61 on Saturday night in the Basketball Travelers Classic.
Harris, who led the Big West Conference in scoring last season, also had two assists, two blocked shots and two steals for the Gauchos (2-0), who are unbeaten in this round-robin tournament on Stanford's home floor at Maples Pavilion.
The Gauchos turned a 30-27 halftime lead into a comfortable victory by outscoring the Crimson 49-34 after the break. Harris shot 6-for-9 in the second half and finished 8-of-17 from the field and 8-for-9 at the free-throw line.
Drew Housman scored 18 points and Jeremy Lin 15 for Harvard (0-2), which played a better game than it did a night earlier in a 111-56 loss to No. 23 Stanford but still committed 22 turnovers.
