Gauchos Fall to Cal Poly in Big West Tournament, 57-50

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Titus Shelton scored a career-high 13 points and tied a career best with 10 rebounds to lead Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to a 57-50 victory over UC Santa Barbara in the Big West Conference Tournament quarterfinals Thursday night.
Dawin Whiten added 12 points for the fourth-seeded Mustangs (10-18), who will play the tournament's top seed Pacific in Friday night's semifinals.
Cameron Goettsche led the fifth-seeded Gauchos (15-14) with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Cal Poly used a 9-0 run to turn a 14-7 deficit into a 16-14 lead with 4:07 left in the first half. The Mustangs then began the second half with a 13-2 surge to build a 31-20 lead with 13:45 to play.
Santa Barbara's Joe See made two free throws with 1:48 left to narrow the deficit to 52-48, But the Gauchos failed to score in the next 1:41.
