Gauchos Run Away From Northridge

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (AP) - Branduinn Fullove scored 19 points as UC Santa Barbara beat Cal State Northridge 67-58 Saturday night.

The Gauchos (13-10, 10-3 Big West Conference) led by as many as 12 points and never trailed in the second half.

The Matadors (10-12, 4-8) came within one, 35-34, with 14 minutes remaining before Santa Barbara went on a 16-6 run to take a 51-40 lead with seven minutes left in the game.

Cal State Northridge would get no closer than seven the rest of the way as UC Santa Barbara won its fourth consecutive game.

Mark Hull added 13 points while Nick Jones scored 11 for UC Santa Barbara, which is now in first place in the Big West Conference.

Northridge was led by Ian Boylan and Chris Davis, who scored 14 points apiece.

The Matadors failed to score a basket for more than six minutes in the first half as Santa Barbara took a 16-9 lead with 9:52 remaining.

Northridge came back with a 12-2 run to take a 21-17 lead with 4:31 remaining. The Gauchos then went on a 10-2 run to take a 27-23 lead before the Matadors tied the game 27-27 going into halftime.
