SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara men's basketball program will host two of its annual camps, a Youth Day Camp and Team Camp, in June, and a second Youth Skills Camp in August, it was announced Thursday. Both camps will be held on campus at the Thunderdome.
UCSB will offer two youth camps this summer, from June 16-20, the Gauchos will host the Youth Day Camp, which will provide instruction for players from grade 1-8. From August 18-20, UCSB will offer an offensive skills camp for players from grades 1-8 with a morning session for younger kids, and an afternoon session for older kids.
Both Gaucho Basketball Camps are designed to provide quality individual instruction in all facets of offensive and defensive basketball. The program is structured to accommodate all levels of players with a participant to staff ratio of 8:1. Awards will be given to contest winners and those who demonstrate attributes such as positive attitude, hustle, and sportsmanship.
From June 27-29, UCSB will host the Team Camp, which will provide instruction for both players and coaches. Coaches clinics will be led by members of the UCSB staff. Teams will be guaranteed a minimum of seven games against comparable high school, with all games officiated. On the first night of camp, a Coaches Social will be held to give coaches the opportunity to exchange ideas and tips in regards to the coaching world.
The camp will include UCSB practice drills, contests, games, clinics for posts and guards, film sessions with Coach Williams, and more. Each camper will also receive a free camp t-shirt.
