Johnson, Somogyi Continue Play at World University Games

Orlando Johnson scored seven points and added two assists as Team USA raced to an easy 94-73 win over Romania at the World University Games on Sunday in Szenchen, China.

The win gives the American team a 6-1 record.  They will next play Germany in the tournament's fifth-place game on Monday, Aug. 22 at 4:00 a.m. (PDT)

Johnson came off the bench and played 16 minutes for Team USA  He made 2-of-5 shots from the field and all three of his free throw attempts.  The U.S. was led by Draymond Green who scored 16 points.  Also, one game after going 5-for-30 from three-point range and missing all 14 of their attempts in the second half, the Americans made just 4-of-22 against Romania.

Greg Somogyi had nine points, five rebounds, three blocked shots and two assists, but his Hungarian team lost a 79-72 decision to the host Chinese.  Somogyi started the team and played nearly 23 minutes.  

Hungary will play the United Arab Emirates in its final game at the World University Games.  The game will tip-off tonight 7:00 p.m. (PDT).

Johnson and Somogyi will be back in the United States this week.  The duo will join their Gaucho teammates in practice as the team prepares to embark on a 10-day, five-game trip to eastern Canada on Sept. 4.
