SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and its baseball program, will host the 16th Annual Caesar Uyesaka Memorial Golf Tournament on Oct. 11, 2007, at the Montecito Country Club. The event, formerly known as the Italian Open, was renamed to honor the late Caesar Uyesaka, for whom UCSB's baseball facility is named, and will benefit the Gaucho baseball program.
"This tournament is to honor the legacy of Caesar Uyesaka and his charitable work throughout our community," said UCSB head baseball coach Bob Brontsema. "Paul Uyesaka has worked hard to put on one of the best golf tournaments in town. The Montecito Country Club is a great setting for both the golf and the dinner afterwards. There are great prizes to be won on the course and in the raffle. I would like to extend my gratitude to Paul for his hard work and to the many sponsors that make this tournament go."
The entry cost to participate in the tournament is $200.00 per person or $800.00 per foursome. Entries must be received by Oct. 3 to assure a spot in the tournament. The fee includes lunch, tee prizes, hors d'oeuvres, dinner, auction and raffle. The hole-in-one prizes are a BMW donated by the Santa Barbara Autogroup and $10,000.00 donated by Ramada Limited. There are numerous other prizes.
The event will begin at 11:00 a.m., with check-in, lunch and a putting contest. There will be a shotgun tee-off at 12:30 p.m. The silent auction, at which hors d'oeuvres will be served, will run from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The dinner, auction and raffle will go from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
