Baseball Names Dan Ricabal As New Pitching Coach
Aug. 21, 2001
Santa Barbara, Calif. -
Dan Ricabal, a former star pitcher at Cal State Fullerton, has been named UC Santa Barbara's pitching coach, head coach Bob Brontsema has announced.
Ricabal pitched for former Titan head coach Augie Garrido for two seasons, 1993 and 1994. In his two years, he helped lead Fullerton to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances. Following his collegiate career, Ricabal played minor league ball for several seasons, advancing as far as the Double-A level with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
After retiring from professional baseball in 1999, Ricabal spent one season as the pitching coach at the College of the Canyons, and one year as an administrative assistant at Cal State Fullerton.
"I thought he was a natural fit," Brontsema said. "He's got good contacts in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas, and those will be very valuable for us. Also, coming from a program like Cal State Fullerton, one of the premier programs, that alone is a major plus."
Ricabal replaces Tom Myers who moved on to the University of Santa Clara as their pitching coach.
