PITTSBURGH - In the top of the ninth inning of the MLB All-Star Game, second baseman Michael Young of the Texas Rangers connected with the game-winning triple to give the American League homefield advantage in the 2006 World Series. Young finished one-for-two with two RBI in the game.

Former Gaucho Barry Zito of the Oakland Athletics made an appearance in the fifth inning, holding the National League and retiring the side on eight pitches.

Last week, Gaucho senior first baseman Robbie Blauer, sophomore infielder Shane Carlson and junior infielder Patrick Rose of the Oahu Paddlers and sophomore backstop Chris McMurray of the Kauai Menehunes were all named to the Hawaii Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Team in the middle of the season.
