PHILADELPHIA, PA -
Former Gaucho and Cardinal outfielder Skip Schumaker connected for his first Major League home run of his career in the fourth inning of a game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.
Schumaker singled in the second, coming around to tie the game at 1-1 on Aaron Miles' RBI single. He made it 2-1 with his first career home run, a solo drive to right-field off of Phils starter Brett Myers in the fourth. The left-handed-hitting rookie turned on a 1-1 cut fastball from Myers and deposited it into the stands above the out-of-town scoreboard.
The Cardinals and Phillies will conclude their three-game series tomorrow. St. Louis leads the series 2-0.
