UCSB (6-9) will square-off against Dartmouth College (0-2) on Thursday before hosting a three-game series with Texas Christian University (10-9) over the weekend. Thursday's game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. The three game series with TCU is scheduled to start on Friday at 2 p.m.
A Look Back at Last Week
UCSB took two of three from then No. 24 Cal Poly. With the two victories, the Gauchos knocked the Mustangs out of the Top-25 Rankings. UCSB defeated Cal Poly in game number one, but not before it was postponed and had to be finished on Sunday before the start of game three of the three-game series. UCSB used a bloop single off the bat of Shane Carlson in the bottom of the twelfth to seal an 8-7 victory. After falling in game two by a count of 6-2, UCSB battled back to down the Mustangs 8-7 once again on Sunday to take its first series victory of 2006.

Scouting the Big Green
Dartmouth, coached by Bob Whalen, enters Thursday's showdown looking for its first win in 2006. The Big Green sports a 0-2 record thus far after they had their first two games postponed and they dropped their last two games to Hofstra. Leading hitters for Dartmouth are sophomore Jason McManis (.667, 0 HR, 1 RBI), junior Will Bashelor (.400, 0 HR, 2 RBI) and junior Andrew Nacario (.333, 0 HR, 1 RBI).
Scouting Texas Christian University
TCU, coached by Jim Schlossnagle, is 10-9 and is coming off a 3-1 victory over Texas State on Tuesday of this week. Before the win, TCU lost two of its three games in the Whataburger Classic over the weekend. The Horned Frogs fell to Rice by a count of 8-1 before knocking off Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 6-1 and finally coming up short against Arizona State 3-1 on Sunday. Leading hitters for TCU are junior Keith Conlon (.348, 3 HR, 16 RBI), sophomore Bryan Kervin (.333, 0 HR, 7 RBI) and junior Chad Huffman (.321, 1 HR, 8 RBI). TCU's weekend rotation is slated to be sophomore right-hander Jake Arrieta (4-1, 2.23 ERA), junior left-hander Brad Furnish (1-2, 2.73 ERA) and Sunday's starter has yet to be determined.
UCSB leads the all-time series with Dartmouth 2-0. The three-game series with TCU will be the first meeting between the two clubs.
The Brontsema File
2006 marks the 25th year of head coach Bob Brontsema's involvement in the UCSB baseball program. He is now in his 13th season as head coach, after ten years as an assistant and two as a player. Brontsema's career record is 328-329 (.499). He has been selected Big West Coach of the Year twice, in 1996 when he guided the Gauchos to a 32-20 record and an at-large spot in the NCAA Tournament, and in 2001, when he led the team to a 40-17 mark and another NCAA Tournament berth. The .701 winning percentage in 2001 was the best in school history. In 2004, Brontsema's Gauchos posted the second most overall wins in his career as head coach, going 33-21. Milestone dates in Brontsema's coaching career include win no. 100 in 1997, win no. 200 in 2001 and career win number 300 with the 6-1 victory over San Jose State on February 13th, 2005.

After the three-game series with TCU, UCSB will travel to Hawaii to play a three-game series against the Rainbow Warriors starting on Sunday, March 26 at 1 p.m. After the three-game series with the University of Hawaii, UCSB will take on the University of Hawaii-Hilo starting on March 30 at 6 p.m.
