Turning the exclusive engagement, "A Night With Tommy" on Friday, Feb. 5 into a full-fledged UC Santa Barbara baseball weekend, the baseball team will hold its annual alumni game on Saturday, Feb. 6 at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.
The event, which will feature several former Gauchos in the major leagues and minor leagues, is open to the public and costs just $5.
Scheduled to attend are Colorado Rockies outfielder Ryan Spilborghs, Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Virgil Vasquez, Cincinnati Reds pitcher Justin Lehr and minor leaguers Ryan Cavan, Chuck Huggins, Joe Gardner, Andy Graham, Brian Gump, Chris Malec, Chris McMurray, Eric Oliver, Patrick Rose, Chris Valaika and Mike Zuanich.
Also scheduled to attend are former UCSB greats who enjoyed some time in the minor leagues - Robbie Blauer, Jim Bullard, Andy Campanella and Matt Wilkerson, who still holds the Gaucho record for career home runs.
Beginning at 11 a.m. current and former UCSB players will be available to sign autographs and talk to Gaucho fans before taking part in a home run derby. Following the home run derby, the 2010 Gaucho squad will face the alumni in a game.
The exciting Saturday will follow the dinner with Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda. Space is limited and tickets are going fast, so click here to part of an unforgettable evening. Many of the aforementioned former UCSB stars are scheduled to be at "A Night With Tommy."
Baseball season tickets just went on sale, offering fans the chance to catch 28 exciting home Gaucho games for nearly half off a regular game ticket. The Intercollegiate Athletics Ticket Office now has two parking spaces adjacent to the building and is now open on Saturdays, making it easier than ever for fans to purchase tickets. The ICA Ticket Office will be open from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturdays. The two parking spots, designated specifically for the ticket office, are already available during weekday hours, which are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Getting to UCSB baseball games is easy! From Highway 217, veer right at Steck Circle onto Mesa Road, and take a left onto Stadium Road. Caesar Uyesaka Stadium is on your left, and you can park at Lot 30, which is right outside the stadium. There are two kiosks that accept cash and credit card to pay for parking.
