UCSB Explodes For 11 Runs In 8th Inning To Defeat NMSU Aggies At Las Cruces, 12-6

UC Santa Barbara produced a season-best 11-run inning on Friday, enroute to a 12-6 victory on the road at New Mexico State.
The Gauchos, trailing as they entered the eighth, sent 16 men to the plate and scored a season-high 11 runs to record their 13th Big West win of the campaign. In the inning, Jon Stephens logged a pair of hits, Tyler Von Schell had a two-run single and Donovan Warrecker had a two-run triple to lead the way. UCSB got on the board in the second inning when catcher Jimmy Walker belted his third home run of the season.
Not only did UCSB send 16 men to the plate in the eighth, nine of them stepped up after two were out. On the night, the Gauchos were aided by two Aggie errors.
Gabe Neboyia went 8.1 innings for the Gauchos to record his fifth win of the year and he now stands at 5-6. Neboyia settled down after allowing four runs in the first inning.
With the victory, the Gauchos improve to 13-9 in Big West play and 23-21 overall. The Aggies drop to 17-32 overall and 2-20 in the Big West. The teams will play game two of the series Saturday at 6:00 p.m. (PDT).
