LOS ANGELES, Calif. -
Senior right fielder Matt Wilkerson and senior catcher Matt Kalafatis each tallied a RBI as the UC Santa Barbara baseball team (19-19) finished off its non-conference schedule with an 8-2 loss to USC (23-10) at Dedeaux Field.
RBIs from Darin Vieira (single), Hector Estrella (sacrifice fly) and Roberto Lopez (groundout) gave USC a 3-0 lead in the second inning.
Kalafatis used a safety squeeze in the fifth to put Santa Barbara on the scoreboard with one run.
Trojan catcher Jeff Clement clubbed his ninth home run of the season with a two-run homer in the fifth.
The Gauchos scored another run in the sixth as Wilkerson drove in freshman shortstop Alden Carrithers, who began the rally with a double to center field.
USC finished off the game by adding three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Senior starting pitcher Loren Fraser (3-4) picked-up the loss as he allowed four hits and three runs (all earned) in 4.0 innings of work.
