Mustangs Outlast Gauchos On The Diamond

Santa Barbara, Ca. - After a dramatic win yesterday when Dave Molidor hit a game winning home run in the bottom of the ninth, the Gauchos dropped game two to the Cal Poly Mustangs by a score of 12-11. The Mustangs improve to 18-18 overall, 9-8 in the Big West, while the Gauchos drop to 18-17, 8-6 in the Conference.
Both teams combined for 23 runs on 27 hits and only one error. The Gauchos were powered in the offensive category by Jeff Carter who went 3-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBI. Chad Peshke also went 2-for-4 and Tyler Von Schell was 2-for-4 as well.
The Mustangs were poweded by Tanner Trosper who just missed hitting for the cycle. He ended up going 4-for-5 with two doubles. He missed the cycle after not getting a home run. Steve Wood went 3-for-5 and Kyle Albright matched that with a 3-for-5 day of his own.
Gaucho reliever Jim Bullard picked up the loss to drop his record to 3-2 on the season, while Mustang reliever Nathan Choate earned his first win on the season.
The teams will finish the series tomorrow in the rubber match. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 pm as this game will also feature free ice cream to all fans in attendance.
